Pietro Fortuna: GLORY II. The tears of an angel
On display in the MACRO hall is Pietro Fortuna’s Tears of the angel, the second part of "Glory," a project divided into a series of major exhibitions and stemming from the artist’s reflections on the concepts of good, sharing and common space. After exhibiting in August 2010 at the Tramway in Glasgow, Fortuna presents at MACRO a large installation in the hall, an area of fundamental importance for the osmotic relationship that the museum has with the city and the neighbourhood.
Tears of an angel, a single piece that combines three works created separately between 2002 and 2008, is about the perception of space. It extends existing areas, divides and then multiplying them within a single context. The installation includes a range of figures and objects that through this union acquire a new identity; so too the architectural structure, a superposition of thousands of sheets of cardboard, converts the lightness and inconsistency of the material into a persistent and stentorian voice.
