The exhibition of the ninth edition of the Talent Prize, Inside Art magazine's annual prize dedicated to young artists, opens at the Macro in Via Nizza on October 14th at 6 pm. This recognition is given every year to the winner and the nine finalists that best represent the latest artistic tendencies.
This year the jury was composed by Partizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, President of the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation; Ludovico Pratesi, Artistic Director of the Centro Arti Visive Pescheria di Pesaro; Federica Pirani, Head of the Exhibition Department of the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali; Marcello Smarrelli, Director of the Ermanno Casoli Foundation, Anna d'Amelio Carbone, Director of the Memmo Arte Contemporanea Foundation; Rocco Guglielmo, Artistic Director of the Marca Museum of Catanzaro; Guido Talarico, Chief Editor and Director of Inside Art magazine.
The 2016 Talent Prize was awarded to Matteo Nasini, for his work Sparkling Matter, a series of 3D porcelain sculptures. Nasini's project examines the transformation of the brain waves, which he registered during sleep through sound and matter. The artist registered the R.E.M. phases and dreams through an electroencephalogram, which he then worked with a modelling software and finally printed with a 3D printer.
The nine finalists works will be exhibited as well, representing various artistic categories. For photography Silvia Mariotti and Marco Maria Zanin, with two projects dealing with memory, Pazin 2 (Aria Buia) and Cavalho. For installation Gli Impresari, with In sua movenza è fermo; Afterall, with the work Just one damn thing after the other; Deda Klodian with Hotel Avogadro, Leonardo Petrucci with 3586 Solar System and Marco Strappato's I’ve caught Derek Jarman and Yves Klein looking at my desktop wallpaper. For the video section Elena Mazzi with The financial singing; Simona Andrioletti's sculpture Summit. Among the winner and the finalists there are the special prize winners as well. The Terzo Pilastro Foundation - Italia e Mediterraneo selected Simona Luchian's photography, Supporto per immagine, wherease the special prize of the Piccini Group was awarded to the Southafrican artist Lenia Georgiou, for the work Poxiàs. The artist Domenico Laterza received a special mention from Inside Art's Editor Guido Talarico for his sculpture Dancer.
The exhibition will be held in the project room on the second floor and will try to take stock of the contemporary artistic production.
Inside Art's magazine November 2016 issue will dedicate a special editorial to the winner, the finalists and the special prize winners.
