TOMASO MONTANARI | ITALIANS AND STRANGERS: CULTURAL HERITAGE AND IDENTITY

#LectioMagistralis by Tomaso Montanari. In the only one of the fundamental principles of the Constitution where the word "nation" appears, the Republic takes note of the founding role that the cultural tradition and its systematic connection with the territory have had in the definition of the Italian nation. It is not an abstract idea. Anyone with a child who attends a public school sees with his own eyes how children of all origins become Italians day by day: making the language of words their own, but also taking part in that ancient biunique relationship for which we belong to the homeland, which belongs to us. We are all Italians, not always for the blood, but because of soil and culture. January 11 2019, Auditorium. [video © Monkeys VideoLab]
